I was living in fear for my husbands’ life. Crazy as it was I saved every text and voicemail. He was working under the protection of the law, but I felt no security in that.
Unrelated to our security concerns, one afternoon he was the victim of road rage. The raging man was following him home. My husband didn’t want the guy to know where we live so he pulled over, got out of his car and spoke to the guy who was obviously high on steroids. He told him to stop following him or he’d call 911.
The guy was not calm, he jumped out of his car, verbally lashed out in short syllable words. He then reached into his car, pulled out a gun and jammed it into my husband’s neck saying, “I was just going to beat you up- but now I’m going to take you out!”
God let my husband respond calmly in an unshaken way, simply saying, “I’m sorry you feel that way.”
The calmness so defused the moment that the guy threw his gun into his car, jumped in and speed off.
The amazing thing is, once my husband got home and told me what just happened, I felt completely calm about his safety! God told me, “If I can take care of him with a gun to his head, I can handle the risky situation at his work!”
I stopped saving voicemails.
