Floods to Drought – God’s Provision Daily & A Cool Breeze

Life is challenging, but oh what peace we receive when we fully lean on the Lord. The heavy storms in late Feb through May (literally it rained out here every day) carried with them damage for everyone…including our ranch. The earth was so wet, our pastures were filled with four inches of rain for weeks. We couldn’t get into the pastures to check on the horses or even the condition of things. And everyone else had the same problems. Fields were damaged, our road has portions that are washed out, many of our huge trees were picked up and moved or broken in half, damaging the trees around them as they came down, and the list goes on and on.

The rain stopped about the middle of May. We went from three and a half months of rain and 60-70 degrees weather to 90 degrees in one evening…and it hasn’t stopped. No living thing–including stock, people and plants–had the opportunity to acclimate to the weather change. We went from floods to drought overnight. We are so far behind, it’s unreal. I work outside with my husband every other day and inside in the ministry work and writing every other day. We have long days and short nights.

But in the midst of it, we have a peace knowing God is in control. I watch as I am exhausted and God sends a cool breeze or a cloud to give me shade. There is no wind blowing anywhere else. There are no other clouds in the sky, but where I am. He covers me with His love and shadows me with His care.
