Mouse House Fabrics

My boyfriend worked in the lumber business and was a widower for quite some time before we married. In all those years, he never cleaned out the house his first wife had lived in. She was a hoarder and the task was daunting.
A few years before we married I had to have back surgery, and the recovery time kept me at home with little I could do. This is when we realized I could help with the seemingly tons of fabric stored in the house. My boyfriend kindly brought me the boxes of fabric so I could make use of my time. As I opened the first box I was a bit horrified at the presence of multiple ‘Mouse Houses’. …. Complete with all the evidence of their nesting.
I didn’t want to throw out all the old fabrics, but I didn’t know what I’d do with them either; and they were a horrible mess! Still, I proceeded to shake out, wash, iron and fold each yard. When I was done they were beautiful – but I still didn’t know what to do with them.
As it would happen, at one of my boyfriend’s job sites he noticed some Amish men working. He mentioned to them that I had all this fabric, and he wondered if their wives may have a use for it.
Indeed, they did! You see they volunteered making clothes for a mission organization in Africa. Gladly we donated the 7 large Tupperware totes of clean fabric, and God used it to dress His kids across the globe. We were thrilled to have it go to good use!
Only God could have gotten this mouse stained fabric cleaned and into the hands of Amish seamstresses that made clothes for impoverished children. Our Awe in HIS provision is unending.
