Learning to TRUST

Unmistakably God sent me to Uganda to research the possibility of opening up an early intervention school for deaf children. Everyone except three people thought I was crazy. I did not go with a big team or an organization. There were just two other women and myself, and we were all flying there from different locations; I was meeting them in Uganda at 10:50pm.
On the day of my departure there was a confirmed report of a terrorist attack, between the hours of 9 and 11:00 pm, at the Entebbe Airport in Uganda. Once I got to Logan airport I started receiving text from people telling me to not get on the plane. I called my best friend for prayer and then shut off my phone, because people were causing me to second-guess God’s will.
When it was time to board the plane for London my heart was beating out of my chest! God never tells us that we won’t have fear —but that we should not fear, because He is with us. So… I prayed and boarded the plane not knowing if the airport in Uganda would be in lockdown or under siege when I’d be landing the next day. As soon as I sat in my seat an unbelievable peace that has no earthy source came over me. It was amazing!
My flight leaving Logan was delayed for almost 2 hours, so I had to run through the London airport to catch my flight to Uganda. God is so good; I did not have time to fear boarding this flight. I was the second to last person to board the plane.
Shortly after I sat in my seat, I started chatting with the man sitting next to me, who was also a missionary. His first question was about who was meeting me – as a single woman he admonished that I should not be traveling alone. He asked if the person picking me up will have a gun, and warned me to get out of that airport ASAP. He told me to not take a cab, to stay on high alert and away from strangers. I was suddenly feeling sick. I went to the bathroom, locked myself in and prayed. As I returned to my seat, I once again felt an undeniable peace.
When we landed, I did not know what to expect. Thank God the airport was not under siege. At the curb outside of baggage claim I easily met my two friends and the driver we had pre-arranged. God taught me a lot on that flight; trusting Him means moving forward when fearful. He will put people in my path to help me, and He is in every detail of my life.
